Instruments/Equipments

CMDC is equipped with basic consultation instruments. Complete set of clinical consultation facilities, diagnostic sets, electrocardiograph (ECG), bedside monitor, oxygen saturation monitor, spirometer, ophthalmoscope, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), various standard charts and graphs are available to complete an ideal pediatric and general medical clinic and child health center.

CMDC utilizes all the facilities available for the patients in the vicinity, specialized centers in Kathmandu valley, and abroad, if necessary.

Dr. Narayan Bahadur Basnet is a senior consultant pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist known for devotional work for the cure, care, and creation of hope for healing in children. He has spent more than 35 years in clinical and research work, contributing to the patients and pediatric sciences. He obtained a basic medical degree, MBBS, from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 1991; completed a Ph.D. in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics in 2000; and completed a 24-month JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Tokyo (UT) in 2003. Dr. Basnet is a recipient of the UT Research Award for Foreign Students in 1999 and 2001. He returned to Nepal and worked as a volunteer medical officer in a lone children’s hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, from 2004 to 2005. He created, established, and continued care of children at the Children’s Medical Diagnosis Center (CMDC) in Kathmandu, Nepal, since 2005. He has also worked as a medical escort for migrating seriously ill international patients (IOM, 2008-2018) to North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He worked as an expatriate medical coordinator in the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) Cambodia, 1994-1995. He has published several research papers and awareness-creating publications. He founded the Nepal Medical Association (NMA)-Khadga Nanda Medical Research Award (Est. 2017), Kathmandu, Nepal. He has published a book titled ‘Swastha Balak’ in Nepali (‘A Child Health Handbook: From Birth to Five Years,’ 2025), which is beneficial to all Nepali-reading communities globally.

 

Dr. Sangeeta Baral Basnet is the Consultant Dermatologist, Venereologist and Leprologist affiliated with CMDC. She has done her MBBS from Calcutta Medical College, Calcutta University, India. She obtained Ph.D. in clinical dermatology from Juntendo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. She is based in Kathmandu and can be contacted in: (977) 9851122090.
